The Prisoner Ball: 2 Years with Prisoner Wine
The Context
In a continued partnership with the Prisoner Wine Company, MATTE projects concept and crafted the second iteration of the Prisoner's Ball, an annual platform celebrating the transformative power of art and activism.
The Approach
"Movements” as a theme encapsulates the ideas of bodies in motion, social + art-driven change in the past and now—a lens for a deeper dive into the storytelling of the prisoner’s brand origins. In close partnership with The Center of Art and Advocacy, the Prisoner Wine Company commissioned new installations by artist Russel Craig, additionally featuring formerly incarcerated artists in multiple mediums in an immersive exploratory experience with MATTE’s creative direction.
The Outcome
The Surrogate's Court was taken over by 18’ x 24’ oversized canvases flowing through the historic archways as emblems of homage and protest, setting the scene for a captivating performance by artist Moses Sumney and presenting The Prisoner core range, drawing more than 250 attendees in an energetic evening to discover the new art partnerships in situ, captured for a 360 strategy across channels. The Center of Art and Advocacy artists include; Dwayne Reginald Betts, Faylita Hicks, Jared Owens, Russell Craig.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
RENDER TO REALITY
From painted drapery to printed matter, the world within the ballroom explores the ideas of movement and expression through light, sound, and artistic interventions for an invigorating celebration.
