The ContextOver 174 Years of Swiss Luxury

For the first time in the U.S, Planet OMEGA touched down in New York City for a special exhibit showcasing the long-standing history of the brand throughout a number of important cultural moments. Having previously toured in Shanghai + Europe, this iteration brought to life the seven pillars of the brand while creating an environment for VIP ambassadors, clients and the public to engage with OMEGA.

The Challenge Building a World

MATTE was tasked with creating an immersive 12-day OMEGA House experience in New York City, strategically positioned in a high-traffic area. The experience was open to the public during the day, offering engaging installations and curated space and transformed into an exclusive event space at night. Central to the experience was the Planet OMEGA Exhibit, which will be enhanced with interwoven narratives, disruptive events, product presentations, ambassador appearances, and a captivating opening event, with the aim of global brand awareness, luxury ambiance, and viral moments.

The ApproachA Unifying Design

Bringing to life the brand’s 7 pillars, we created a modular space that puts the experience at the forefront. Featuring an array of brand storytelling, interactive touch points, programming and photo moments, the Omega House served as a hub for Omega to capitalize on the brand’s momentum and highlight their historical reverence.

The Outcome11 Days and 8 Nights

Housed at the iconic Chelsea Factory, we divided the space to serve both the needs of the exhibit and programming. The East Hall was dedicated to Planet OMEGA, where we provided functional design updates to the displays and developed a photo booth for an AR watch photo moment. We also developed custom vitrines for their six historical watches–inclusive of timepieces from both Elvis and JFK.

The West Hall was leveraged as a multi-functional space to support the public exhibit days and a range of VIP programming. We developed a custom entrance and soundscape, a step-and-repeat moment as well as an introductory history wall as the first touchpoint for the brand. Our custom bar served as a cafe and lounge during public viewing hours and was transformed into a sleek cocktail hour with tunes provided by DJ Isaac Likes. In tandem with the experiential build, MATTE produced three panels and two dinners in the space for OMEGA C-suite, high-profile ambassadors – including guest appearances from Nicole Kidman on opening night, a Bond dinner hosted by Daniel Craig and Olympic panel with Allyson Felix + Nathan Chen.
