The ContextJoy, Period

A longtime partner of the Marc Jacobs team, MATTE was invited back to capture their July 2024 Runway show, entitled “Joy, Period.” We were tasked with capturing the designer’s view of fashion as a way to “freely explore and display our thoughts, desires, and identities in a deeper pursuit of joy, beauty and personal transformation.”

The Challenge Legends Hosting Legends

Returning to one of his renowned show locations, the Fifth Avenue New York Public Library, the challenge for our team was to show the viewer a new perspective and a fresh POV on the designer and his creative vision, with the added layer of this season’s theme.

The ApproachRunway to Real Life

MATTE’s approach was to create a piece that felt as fun and whimsical as the clothes themselves. We employed the use of four-cameras, in order to create a dynamic and multilayered runway film, that could show not only the clothes themselves but really encapsulate the entire show.

The OutcomeCinematic Fantasy

An energetic and colorful runway film, which breathed even more life into an already spirited show. The film showcased the runway in a traditional chronological format, with stylistic flair and eye catching B-Roll seamlessly integrated to keep the audience hooked. The film exemplified that this is more than just a runway show, but an experience.
