The Context
Marc Jacobs has been working with MATTE on runway capture for the past 3 years. MATTE was invited to capture Marc Jacobs’ Fall 2023 Runway Show at the historic New York Public Library.
Marc Jacobs wanted to shake up the stitled fashion show format with an fresh take and a cinematic twist on a familiar location.
The Approach
A melody of quick and edgy cuts are blended together to recreate the show’s intended frenzy. The edit is commanded by dynamic camera angles paired with unexpected detail that “highlight the interplay of light and shadow”. With show notes generated by OpenAI, ChatGPT, “The predominantly black and white palette created a striking visual impact, emphasizing the timeless elegance and versatility of monochrome fashion." This rapid presentation aims to touch on historic signature styles though a modern lens accompanied by editing which captures the true pacing of the show alluding to the speed in which we process fashion and information.
The Outcome
Our content and quick edit turnaround capabilities produced a show recap and a stylised edit for web and social. "The Marc Jacobs fashion show mesmerized its audience with an awe inspiring fusion of masculine tailoring and feminine elegance. The tailored suits designed exclusively for women challenged traditional gender boundaries, while the pairing of flat shoes and black tights added comfort and refinement. The altered gowns, predominantly in black and white, demonstrated the designer's commitment to pushing boundaries and redefining beauty."
