THE BLIND MAN’S BALL
At the nascence of the Dada movement in 1917, The Blind Man’s Ball was held at Webster Hall as masquerade of the absurd. The night would become a myth, deep in the ethos of New York Bohemia.
100 years later, MATTE reprised this legendary affair at the iconic Alder Mansion for our first ever Halloween party. By
transforming the 72 room gothic mansion into a landscape of music, sublimity and avant-garde activations, we tapped into the essence of the beautiful absurdity, freedom and artistic personalities that characterize the Dada movement and New York Bohemia.
MATTE produced the event in collaboration with You Are So Lucky and, featuring visionaries from across the world including Paris-based collective PPP (Le Pompon), pan-sexual impresarios A Club Called Rhonda, Mexican artist Paolo Montiel, and Darkside frontman Dave Harrington.
