MATTE took over Brooklyn’s Knockdown Center for two days to host our tentpole experience, MATTE Black, providing guests with another unforgettable synthesis of underground music and contemporary installation art.

DJ Performances

MATTE brought together a number of DJs including Peggy Gou, Marcel Dettmann, Heron Preston, AceMoma, Tammy Lakkis, Paurro, Hank Korsan and Amelia Holt.

Visual Artists

404.ZERO (RU), Iván Navarro (CL), Jacolby Satterwhite (US), and Benjamin Gordon (AU) – four artists from diverging global socio-political contexts united in their interrogation of our material world through new media, technologies and algorithms. Shifts in scale, surface and experience offered new doors for perception.

Benjamin Gordon Live Performance

On the event’s second day, Benjamin Gordon delivered a live set consisting of feedback loops that collapses artificial intelligence, machine learning, and ancient iconography displayed on an overhead LED screen.

MATTE Black served as launch for a series of web3 based projects that connected on-chain and off-chain, building connectivity across MATTE ecosystem.

The Black Takeover. In collaboration with Maxwell Osbourne’s anOnlyChild, limited merch was produced exclusively for MATTE Black. Merch is now available for purchase here.

Black Card

The Black Card is an all-access membership to the MATTE ecosystem – IRL, URL, and everything in between. Card holders will get SVIP to all future MATTE experiences, access to member monthly dinners, exclusive programming, and deals with our brand partners.

Black Badge

Where the Black Card is your all-access pass, MATTE Badges are our ticket to the dance and the ecosystem.

The BLACK Badge is our 001 drop, created with Originator Benjamin Gordon. The collection is fully generative, with each NFT being 1 of 1 with a limited batch of rare editions.

The badge gets you into the live stream for MATTE Black, status in the MATTE ecosystem, and captures an incredible moment in time – the return of MATTE Black.
