For her annual MET after party, Rihanna sought to reimagine the event creative, making it more elaborate and intertwined with this year’s Gala theme: “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” To do so, the longstanding event partner, Butter Group, tapped MATTE to fully design and produce the event.

With a last minute venue change to Up & Down, MATTE was tasked to transform the space in less than 24 hours.

Using deep colored florals, mood lighting, custom vinyl, sculptural set pieces and MATTE-made content projected onto a custom wall of neoclassical busts, we transitioned the venue from ‘NYC Nightclub’ to a uniquely themed space.

Thematic content was projected across custom sculptural backdrops, creating a more immersive environment.
